IT’S MONDAY! WHAT ARE YOU READING?
It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. Book Journey has passed the hosting torch on to Book Date so I encourage followers to check out the site. So here’s what’s up this week!

White Leopard is an English translation of a French hard boiled detective novel. This is one of the most absorbing books of the genre that I’ve read this year. I am about half way through and I find the storytelling sparse yet perfectly paced. Unless things go terribly wrong, this is a winner. Not released until November, get on the reserve list at your library or pre-order. It’s a good one and I thank the publisher for the copy.
Gearing up for Halloween, I’m reading about real witches in Stacy Schiff’s The Witches: Salem, 1692 and I must admit this is a bit scary. Real life hair standing up on the back of your neck creepy. I bought a signed first edition as my own trick-or- treat and now may be too damned scared to read it! This book has some great illustrations of early pamphlets and texts and is seemingly well researched.
Pat Conroy is one of my favorite writers of all time and his Birthday Bash is this weekend in Beaufort, South Carolina. Oh, how I would loooove to be there. But I will just have to read one of his books instead. I have all of them so this will be a tough choice. Do you have a favorite Pat Conroy book?
What are you reading this week?

I love Pat Conroy, too! And what’s this about a birthday bash? Sounds like fun. It’s probably been close to 20 years since I read Beach Music. Don’t remember any of the details, but it is still one of my favorites. Should probably reread it myself…

Beach Music was a good one- I haven’t re-read that one, either. Prince of Tides is one I’ve enjoyed a couple of times.

Chuckling at your reaction to your trick or treat to self book. It must be really scary – leave the light on!
I have only read Prince of Tides and seen the movie – must be over twenty years ago though!
