Random Reads Rebooted

Random Reads was a blog feature that used to be hosted by the blog, I’m Loving Books, however, it is no longer active. Random Reads Rebooted is a reimaged version of this on  http://deesbookblog.com/2016/01/02/random-reads-rebooted.  Random Reads Rebooted is dedicated to finding (and reading) those books that have long been forgotten about it.

On the first Saturday of the month (or within that first week), randomly select a book that is on your bookshelves (it could be a virtual shelf like a Goodreads one, or a real shelf). Dee recommends using random.org to help you pick that special or forgotten book. At the end of the month, come back and let us know what you thought about the book that you picked on deesbookblog.com .

My Random Read for January is If Beale Street Could Talk by James Baldwin. How did I pick this. I have not unpacked boxes and bags of books since I moved in August so I slipped my hand in a bag of books I had purchased at a used book sale and pulled this one out of the mix!

From the Publisher Like the blues — sweet, sad and full of truth — this masterly work of fiction rocks us with powerful emotions. In it are anger and pain, but above all, love — affirmative love of a woman for her man, the sustaining love of a black family. Fonny, a talented young artist, finds himself unjustly arrested and locked in New York’s infamous tombs. But his girlfriend, Tish, is determined to free him, and to have his baby, in this starkly realisitic tale… a powerful endictment of American concepts of justice and punishment in our time.

I’ll be back to let you know what I think of th book. Meanwhile, join us over athttp://deesbookblog.com/2016/01/02/random-reads-rebooted-1/
