Love, Loss, and What We Ate: A Memoir by Padma Lakshmi

The first sentence evokes endings and new beginnings to me. There is some sadness, trepidation, apprehension dripping from the words but also possibility.

I have been a fan of Top Chef and Padma Lakshmi for quite some time and purchased this book within days of its release. It begins with her move from Italy to Los Angeles and the beginning of her relationship with her soon to be husband Salman Rushdie. Lakshmi is candid about the attraction and consummation of the relationship with the then married writer. The book promises to be rich and evocative. Each chapter is followed by one of Lakshmi’ s Easy Exotic Recipes.
