The Girl from Venice Hardcover – October 18, 2016 by Martin Cruz Smith

From the Publisher. The Girl from Venice is a suspenseful World War II love story set against the beauty, mystery, and danger of occupied Venice.

Worth Getting in Bed For? No.

This story didn’t flow as well as the dialogue did. The fascists, partisans and Nazis were sometimes seemingly interchangeable to where the real good guys were often unidentifiable. The love story was lukewarm. I really like this author but this was a miss for me.

The Climb: Tragic Ambitions on EverestPaperback – July 16, 1999

Worth Getting in Bed For? Yes. This is a comprehensive look at the Everest disaster of 1996 that is worth comparing to Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer. This gives another perspective to the tragedy. Not as riveting or as well-written as Krakauer’s telling, this is still a story worth noting.
